Armando Alves

Armando Alves (1935 – ) attended the School of Decorative Arts António Arroio and graduated in Painting at the Oporto School of Fine Art, where he also lectured. In 1963, was one of the founders of the Cooperativa Árvore. He founded the group “Os Quatro Vintes”, still in the sixties, with Ângelo de Sousa, José Rodrigues, and Jorge Pinheiro. From the seventies, he has been developing activities in the field of graphical arts. Ilustrator, graphical artist, draftsman, and abstract painter, he is present in the National Museum Soares dos Reis, Souza-Cardoso Museum, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and in private collections. He began collaborating with Portalegre’s tapestry in 1963.
