Vítor Pomar
Vítor Pomar (1949 – ) was born in Lisbon. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon and Oporto. In 1970, he moved to the Netherlands to proceed his studies in the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. He visited Mexico, with a scholarship from the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, in 1972, and worked in New York for five months in 1982. In 1985 he returned to Portugal. During 1990 and 1995 he travelled to the North of India to study with the Tibetan Lamas. His participation in individual and collective exhibitions started in 1970. He is represented in several collections, namely in the Luso-American Foundation, Gulbenkian Foundation, Serralves Foundation, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and Ministry of Finance. His collaboration with Portalegre’s Tapestry began in 1998.
